Volume keeps going to zero
Volume keeps going to zero
I'm about to format the system. I have gone through about everything I can think of. The volume on this system keeps going to zero. You drag the slider up and hit the ding at that volume but even as you drag it up if you don't do it fast it will slide down to zero again. And as soon as you let up on the slider it will go back to zero. I have opened all the sound panels I can. I have deleted the profile and it was fine for a day then the sound problem came back. Any suggestions?

What soundcard/software are you using?
Does your computer check clean for adware, spyware, viruses etc?

Re: Volume keeps going to zero
Its a gateway profile 5.5, scanned with spybot, norton 10.1.6.6000, realtec sound chip. No apparent adware, spyware or viruses detected. If you delete the profile though and recreate it the sound works normal for a short while.

Re: Volume keeps going to zero
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling (with latest drivers from the realtek site if gateway don't have them)?
There aren't any volume keys on the peripherals that are stuck down are there?

What about a guitar hero controller? I have had the motion sensors on my guitar screw up GRiD. This sounds like some sort of repeating keypress that you are unaware of.

Re: Volume keeps going to zero
I swapped out the keyboard and mouse. Sh had a wireless Logitech setup with the media keys. That doesn't seem to help. The volume control on the system isn't stuck. If it was you would see the video overlay on the screen.
Screw it just formating and reinstalling.
There reformatted, patched up and working fine. I just wish I knew what it was that was causing the problem.
