Reading CPU Voltage

Post by geokilla »

How should one read CPU voltages? There's the method of using CPU-Z, while there's also reading it from what you set in the BIOS, and the most accurate method which involves a multimeter.

Depends on how accurate you want to be I guess.

For most people CPUz is enough.

It's not going to make a whole lot of difference either way, unless your BIOS is significantly different to what CPUz is reading.

I think in this case, you will be temperature limited before too much voltage becomes dangerous.

Ya that's what I thought too. However, people like me may be getting significant different voltage readings. For me, I have it set to 1.32V in BIOS while CPU-Z gives me 1.184V under F@H load.

I know why you can't trust software readings for like 5V rails and 12V rails, but CPU is like an entirely different thing is it not?
