3d mark vantage low score on new system

Post by solstring »

Hi,
I have just built a pc with the following specs:

1.Motherboard: M3A32-MVP Deluxe
2.Graphics card: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI
3.Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer 7.1 Sound Card (30SB073000002)
4.Ram: Crucial Ballistix Tracer RED 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT25664AR804)
5.Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (ST3250410AS)
6.Power supply: 1000w power supply
7.CPU: AMD Phenom X4 Quad-Core 9950 2.6GHz Processor

All of this is newly installed hardware by a pc professional.

I run 3dmark vantage and I only get a score of 7900+. What is causing this low score. I have seen computers of the same spec as mine with 13000+ marks.

Could it be software or drivers or even a problem with my hardware? I was thinking maybe it was the hard drive or the ram? But I dont want to spend more money on the ram incase its not the problem.

Any ideas on what may be causing the low scores would be great.
Thank You.

The 13K result is got to be a crossfire score, rather than a single card score. The HIS 4870 Nate tested came in at 8769 with a res of 1280x1024

Its the best single ATI card there is and it is almost levle with the GeForce GTX 280 at resolution 1280x1024 in some game tests. So how can it be such a low scorer? it outperforms the gtx 9800 hands down. This card should be scoreing alot better shorley.

Sorry, ive just read ur link above. I am actually in the normal range at 7900.
ATI in crossfire really makes it a monster, that score is superb.

I've been running a 4870/4850 Toxic Crossfire setup and it runs in the 13,000ish range, single 4870 8000ish. 3DMarks06 best run 19209 at 1280x1024.
