Need opinions
Customer wants a basic rebuild on his PC. He doesn't do a lot of gaming, etc. but he runs QB Pro business, MS office, etc.
His budget is $600. I'm thinking about a C2D E7200 for $119. I'm not familiar with that processor. Specs look decent enough and according to some reviewers is overclockable.
What do y'all think?
Thanks
Jack

Re: Need opinions
Thanks for the ideas. Now I have to appease the boss with Tom's hardware specs vs the E6750 for $70 more.

i believe the E7200 would easily do 3.8GHz under water, 3.5 on Air if i'm not mistaken, i would consider that quite good

Re: Need opinions
just put one in a client's machine with a P43 Biostar board. Didn't get a chance to beat on it yet, but it runs nicely with all the normal every day stuff I've done on it.

Re: Need opinions
Just a quick follow up. The board I got is a regular mobo we use all the time. It's a Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L. According to GB, the Wolfdale CPU is supported with BIOS v5. Does anyone have any idea what version ships on that board? In other words, will it work with that chip out of the box?

As you can probably tell, I don't get out much!
Thanks!

Re: Need opinions
Well, goin' to the Bills game was a huge disappointment. Pre-season = No starters
if anyone else should happen to be in the same situation with this mobo and cpu...the cpu requires BIOS vF5 Mobo ships with F6 (just make sure the cpu is seated properly
) Works like a champ. Very quick and stable so far

Re: Need opinions
Yeah right? I've seen better high school games than what I witnessed with Bills vs Lions. Stupid, amateur penalties, lackluster performance. A couple of exciting plays totally destroyed by stupid penalties. Like a 40+ yard gain on a pass called back because of holding. Geez. Bills started out strong and decided to take the rest of the game off. Detroit just couldn't get their act together enough to score any more than they did. Never again.Apoptosis wrote: I went to the Raiders versus Cardinals game last week in Oakland... Very sucky game... pre-season blows.

Re: Need opinions
I have a E7200 with a EP35-DS3L and it's a great combination. I tried getting 3.8Ghz stable, but it's not working too well. So I'm just going to try and get 3.7Ghz stable. Excellent CPU for the price.skierkid450 wrote:i believe the E7200 would easily do 3.8GHz under water, 3.5 on Air if i'm not mistaken, i would consider that quite good
