Dell Insprion 6000 laptop display problem

I'm fairly certain the backlight is bad in this unit but just want to make sure. Upon booting, the Dell logo displays OK but then it's just black from there on. CRT display is fine.

I've just never seen the manufacturer splash screen appear on a bad backlight before. Usually nothing will display.

Can you get into the BIOS? That should confirm if the backlight is working or not.

Does seem strange that you can see the logo on boot but nothing else.

usually even if the backlight is off/bad you can still see the screen in the right light. can you?

So far I haven't found the "right light"

I've been searching in a most futile fashion for my flashlight but to no avail.

I haven't tried to get into BIOS, Dan, I'll give that a whirl and see what happens.
