Brief laptop company review

While we tend to build our own desktops, laptops are another story even though we had plenty of articles on building a laptop it's just a process that I think we rather just get from a company. So here's a brief overview of laptops, since I see people with crap for laptops all the time.
Lenovo- Start with the best, top tier laptop quality. Unfortunately laptop upgrades cost more on parts than anywhere else, they really want to be a "made-to-order" company. Also, forget their cheap end of laptops, you're either spending $1000 or more for a thinkpad or you might as well go to Dell.
Dell- Stick with the small business line, the laptops look and perform better. They rip you off on warranty (http://forums.legitreviews.com/about18199.html), so don't bother with that. It's better for the cheaper laptops, since Lenovo's are better for the higher end. Then again, there's something to be said about the Latitude design. Did I mention their 15.4" laptops get 4-5 hours battery life on a 6 cell? Smaller laptops last even longer.
HP- So now a company whose batteries last 2-3 hours. Their laptops are also heavy, but for some reason HP's are prevalent because they are sold in every Bestbuy, Staples, Circuit City, and other chain store in America. You can get pretty good rebate deals on them, but they are as-is and as I said, weight and battery suck- two of the more important laptop features.
Sony- Flip a coin, heads you get a decent laptop. Tails you get a piece of **** that breaks after one month. And no matter what your battery is ****. Sony's only good feature are their screens, and I guess you can get something that looks like a Mac for cheaper, though it's cheaper all-around.
Acer- Needs a shout-out for being the cheapest laptop company out there, but I haven't heard anything about their laptops. The price made them look too risky for me to consider, but maybe they weren't as cheap as they looked.
Toshiba (EDIT): Forgot all about them, they are also sold in stores like HP. But I don't know enough about them other than that they look heavy.
Apple- I never understood the fascination with paying 50% more for the same power in terms of components, but if you have the money for it, subscribe to fads, and want a machine that probably won't let you down (unless you like video games) it might be a good choice.
I'm not covering Alienware and stuff, I have no idea how good their laptops are. They are expensive though, and if you want something for that level of gaming I don't understand why you wouldn't save money and get more frame-rates on a gaming desktop. Also, how the hell do you play w/o a docking station is beyond me.
