I have a Razer Diamondback mouse from 2007, and it is starting to act up. It seems that the left click is over sensitive and is double clicking when I only click once, and sometimes in games it will "toggle" the left mouse button. Example: If I get on a turret in Far Cry 2 I will fire just once, and the turret will continue to fire even if I am not using the button. To get it to stop I have to click again. This doesn't happen a lot in game, but the double click happens a lot on the desktop. Highlighting files has become a pain because it will occasionally open the file instead of highlight it.
Is this a sign of my a dying mouse? Could it be dirt? Anyone have this happen?

Re: Mouse annoyances
I've had that happen on other mice before. Old Logitech's used to be really bad about it. You might be able to take it apart and clean it but Idoubt it. Usually happenes when the springs are failing.
I say get a new mouse and save this one for Diablo III.

Re: Mouse annoyances
My Diamondback is working quite well, though I'm not using the drivers either so you may want to try uninstalling the drivers and see if that helps.

Probably the best advice ever.Skippman wrote:I say get a new mouse and save this one for Diablo III.
I would do this, but then the on-the-fly sensitivity wouldn't work. I love this feature for BF2. I haven't played it for a while, so maybe I could sacrifice OTF sensitivity for proper function.Alathald wrote:try uninstalling the drivers and see if that helps.

Re: Mouse annoyances
You could make the mouse aquatic.
Or save it for an office war *sorry, thinking about those stupid commercials where the guys are battling with office supplies/furniture*

Man, it's been awhile since I've played BF2 but that is the one game I turn the OTF sensitive back on for...it's the only way to properly operate those damn tanksvicaphit wrote:I would do this, but then the on-the-fly sensitivity wouldn't work. But I was thinking an uninstall more along the lines of a test to see if it is h/w or s/w related...
Re: Mouse annoyances
It isn't too bad to go through the insides of your mouse to see what you can see. I once had some Creative 5-button optical mouse but after three years of intense use only the wiring tore off the plate. Now I have the fancy Logitech MX revolution laser mouse but when I have time ill try to solder the wiring on the Creative to leave it for some emergencies (Diablo-ing frenzy for example). Still I'd recomend you to plug the mouse in a PC without the drivers and try it out to sort out the nature of this problem.
Re: Mouse annoyances
I uninstalled the drivers and it didn't seem to help. Still double clicks, now I miss what people are saying in Fallout 3.

Re: Mouse annoyances
It isn't easily repeatable, so I would have to spend quite a bit of time on the other computer. Maybe I will try it at work.
