Buy MP3's, Where from?

Where can I (well not me) purchase MP3's? The girlfriend has an MP3 player and wants to get more songs - and obviously, Itunes doesnt work on it because it isn't and IPOD. My mom wants to get her xmas present. Where can I tell her to get a gift card thing at for buying MP3's? The only place I thought of is Amazon, but they dont look like they have a big selection.

Actually I'm not sure, but does anyone else find it odd that it's harder to purchase songs legally than download them?

for the record - i have NEVER downloaded a song, movie, PC game, or 2000+ MAME games that i didnt already own!

lol I am guilty. I've downloaded songs. But, if I like it I do buy cds and goto concerts. I also have a heck of a movie collection. I was just stating that it is much easier to download them off torrents than to find a legit site to download from.
I have 4 things like that. It's got 3 vertical sections and you can only see 2 in the browser. And remember 4 stands in my living room

Amazon for me. Good selection, cheap prices (10 or so an album, even for new releases)
