When I try to play a DVD using Windows Media Player I can't seem to get any sound. I can get sound using Nero Show Time so I'm stumped. Sound card is Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic, rest of system is in my signature. Any ideas?

maybe something got unplugged?
have checked the sound drivers?(sometimes updates screw with audio drivers, it has happened to me once with realtek AC'97)
is sound muted in windows or in your media players?

The cables are all plugged in and I have the lastest drivers from Creative. I checked device manager and the sound settings in control panel. Sound works fine for everything else including CD's.

Try re-installing your video codecs.

Thanks guys. I downloaded and installed AC 3 filters and it seems to have solved the problem. Guess I'm clueless, as I've never installed and codecs and things have worked in the past.

It's great when it's a simple fix

No doubt about that. I've read about K Lite codec packs and others but have never installed them. Again, I must be clueless but I always assumed WMP or my Nero Show Time had all that I needed to watch DVD's on my PC. Could have sworn I'd watched movies before using WMP, maybe it was always in Nero.
