ok i have both these cards. I just bought the ATI card for my "backup" gaming computer. So my friends have something to play online with me when over.

well i was just looking a bit closer and the specs are pretty close to the same on these cards except for the stream processors. I didnt see any reviews with direct comparisons of these two cards. so would you all say that the ATI card is going to perform better than the nvidia card?

I would have said that the 4850 would have been the better card, but it's a tough call with the 4830 (especially with nvidia's 'recent' driver optimisations).

Do you have enough free time to test them both yourself?

no not so much... i have 2 computers friends dropped off waiting at home to be worked on. and i just got all the parts for the new backup gaming rig to be built. its not a huge deal if the are close I will just leave things as they are. I was just thinking if the ATI was hands down better I would make the swap. my monitor is a 22" LCD and the backup is a 17" LCD so it shouldnt make much difference.

i have already test these cards as my mate has the 4830 and i used to have the 8800gts but it didnt work on my pc so used it on another of my mates. after tests to be honest there is not much difference in game. the only difference is that the 4830 gets a lil hotter than the 8800gts. but i always say nvidia. ati is not me. but its all down to what you think.
