hey guys my mates just bought a 32" samsung tv to use as a monitor instead of his pioneer 60". He doesn't game anymore but he'll probably only play diablo 3 whenever it comes out but he wants to run both screens in some instances at the same time(i mean why not) so the big question is 4850x2, 4870x2 or GTX 295? He also has a crossfire board. cheers

If he doesn't want to play any games the single GPU cards of the models you mentioned would suffice completely.

a lot of people have been praising the 4850's ability as a good multiple/cinema gpu. Can anyone tell me whether or not ati has better hd video decoding? everyone says it does but then again maybe there's a contrary forum out there that i have yet to stumble upon.

I've got the 4850 and am running a 21,5 " and 32 " both Full HD at the same time and never hab any problems with Video playback. The only thing that comes to my mind is that whenever I want to watch a blu ray disc PowerDVD tells me to disable one of the screens to be able to play it correctly, but this occurs only if one of the screens is cloned onto the other. It doesn't bother if you have an extended desktop.

tbh, I think even a decent onboard GPU can handle that no problem. I had my 780G IGP (I believe it is the equivalent of a 2400XT) connected to both my 1080P TV via HDMI, and 1600x1200 CRT via VGA without any problems. Since he won't game anymore, I don't see why he should get such beefy GPUs!

shoot a reasonable hd2600xt could do that, mine runs my LG 32" and my 22" lcd full noise no problems evan has nice smooth blueray playback (using MCP home theatre) i find power dvd to cumbersome and a drain on resources
