Building a new computer
Re: Building a new computer
For the price you are paying for the MoBo and Processor you might as well go with an Intel i7 processor and mobo.

What are you using to power the rig?

Re: Building a new computer
I'd agree with the i7 assessment. I also have a hard time paying more for a motherboard than for the processor I'm using. Intel X58 motherboards (ala i7 boards) can do SLi so you don't need that nForce chipset. The only problem I see is that DDR3 is still expensive. But with your budget (just looking at the $ of the motherboard) you should be fine.
Re: Building a new computer
or you can save youself some money and get a AMD Phenom II X4 940. You can get that CPU and MB for 330.

The 690 is a great price. I would shop around a little and you will probably find it cheaper. I managed to get mine for $60 + shipping. As the others have said for the price you are paying for the motherboard, CPU, and RAM you might as well move up to i7.
