hey guys im going to buy a new graphics card before i go back to uni and im really thinking about the 4850x2. It's finally dropped in price from $700 to $550. My screen is only 1680x1050 and im going to be playing rainbow 6 las vegas 2, left 4 dead and fallout 3. I definately want to max everything out with aa as well but the question is do i get a gtx 260+. I put it on order before but i crashed my car and was mega poor at the time so i canceled it.So what do u say guys?

We are actually working on a Radeon HD 4850X2, so as soon as Scott finishes testing we'll have the review posted. He's running the lastest BIOS and ATI CATALYST 9.1 drivers, so I think it should yield some interesting results as most of the reviews online today were done on older drivers with early vBIOS' installed.

thanks man that sounds awesome and ill definitely be looking out for it. Ive seen 1 or 2 more recent articles that put the 4850x2 closer to its big brother (4870x2) with a little bit of overclocking at certian resolutions. Either way its dropped down to $550 and really i cant help but think that it'll be worth the extra $100 from a generic gtx 260. That and ive never felt comfortable with nvidea, but hey everyone has their preference. Would my 650 W psu be fine with it though caus ive also read somewhere that the new catalyst drivers have somehow increased power consumption somehow with only a 1% increase in performance in crysis etc. I only have a e8500 (not overclocked) and 2 hard drives (one being 1T) so i think the psu should be adequate caus i dont really have much extra hardware?

Don't forget that AA isn't going to make a whole lot of a visual difference when you are running at higher resolution.
