Hardware Purchasing Poll

Post by FZ1 »

The tech industry is one of many that is being hit hard by the economy and is having an impact on product availability and pricing. Comments are welcome.

I think of my budget(or occasional lack of) alot more, but I'm not gonna let it change what I want..it might take a little while longer to buy a certain thing, but it beats not getting it at all

Well, now that I found out that I'm not losing my job I purchased a new laptop and a netbook. Been needing a new laptop for a while and the wife has been eying netbooks for a while now. But I did hold off until I knew whether or not my job was safe.

I'm holding off until Corsair releases that case. Hopefully by then prices on i7 stuff will be a bit more reasonable. Besides, I just finished WarMachine 1.5, it's a bit early for 2.0.

Now Jeep parts... thats completely diffrent.... :supz:

Just built my i7 rig thats in my sig recently, I need to buy a new cooler but otherwise won't need to buy anything for a while. Picked up a wireless printer yesterday for the wife and son.

I'm still buying but I do admit to looking more closely at need compared to want budget wise. That said I would still spend a bit more for something I wanted than just go with the cheapest thing I can find.

I am shopping around a bit more. I widened the search to outside of Newegg.

Since it hasn't been a year since my last build though, I am not rushing out to buy anything new. I just realized that I can't justify the netbook purchase that I want to make. That is partially the economy's fault, and partially the fact that I will be getting an apartment soon, and married in 6 months.

Since I own a netbook (ASUS Eee 1000HA) I would say skip it. The CPU isn't fast and the onboard video is a joke. The only reason I bought it was because I was traveling all the time and I wanted a notebook that would fit easily on the airplane tray. I also wanted something that could hold a charge for a long time, sometimes with delays and the flights I could easily need my battery to last over 3 hours.

Yeah, I realized that it is stupid to spend a few hundred dollars on something I may not get the opportunity to use a lot. I was about 10 minutes from buying one of the 1000HAs when they were $299 a while back, and I am glad I didn't.

I've always been a jew when it comes to buying tech parts (I mean look at my signature).

Anyway, the reason why is everything I buy is outdated in two months tops, and I have to keep buying more and more and more to play the latest game, whereas now I can just buy my PS3 and buy a game and be done, no graphics upgrades, etc.

Since I don't game on the PC, I never really buy top-of-the-line hardware. I mostly just go for budget to mid-range parts so I'm not really buying cheaper. I'm purchasing less than last year, though, but that's because I've already purchased most of what I need (basically my storage server). Actually, it's more I've purchased more than can fit comfortably in our tiny apartment and my mom's been threatening to throw all my tech stuff. :axe:

I've got some spare parts for a virtualization rig and second unRAID server (still missing case, though), but I need to get rid of an old Dell and a custom PIII before there's enough space.

I am willing to admit i have a sickness. I find myself buying stuff (computer harware) I dont need just cuz their was a good deal. plus me and my buddies have this weird one up mentality. A friend of mine just got his 28" monitor last week. I saw it friday and even though I have no need for anything more than the 22" monitor I have. now I find myself checking out newegg just to see... lol

Well, the poll made a liar out of me. I am holding off on upgrading my toys, but I couldn't resist buying my Mom the Dell monitor that Apoptosis posted on Legit Deals forum. Well, maybe I'm not a liar, because it really is going to my Mom's house.
