Hey guys,

I just wanted to know if there is anything like a solar charger for notebooks, since I'm going to stay in a cabin without electricity for a week, but still would like to be able to write on my notebook, so I'd need something for 19 Volts or something to charge the battery.

I'm open for any suggestions :)

I've not seen anything that's an all in one setup.

You'd be looking at getting a (few) solar panels, a charge controller and a big battery to store the charge in for when you need it. Is the cost of all that going to make it prohibitive?

The costs would probably exceed what I inted to spent on something like that.
So I'll probably have to print what I need and take an old fashioned pen with me.

I think I found something on the net http://www.solarlink.de/solarmoffgridl.htm

Not sure if I'm willing to spend 430 euros for it right now, but if I do I'll let you guys know if it worked well enough for my notebook.

That looks pretty cool, though if you are out in a cabin without electricity, enjoy it and take along a pencil and paper. You aren't ruffing it if you have a laptop.

I agree with Vicaphit. You could always get a power inverter for the car. I do that in the tractor-trailors when I'm gonna be sitting at a stop to watch movies.

Yeah, I got an inverter just recently off Woot. Haven't used it yet, but I have it if I need it on a long trip. Very good idea stollie, I never thought about that (I guess I didn't assume he would drive there).

You can see the solar charger for notebook for 20W that costs under 200 Euro at http://www.charger.od.ua It cost 1850 UAH (about 190 EUR) and delivery would be about 40 EUR all over the world.

I decided to go with the pen and paper, since I don't want to spend that much money on something I probably wont use that often.
