be nice to see if you could convert a DVD to h.264, but how you would do that I don't know. Compare that to Badaboom on a GPU and same converted just using CPU.

Don't really see any Program that could use this card, but I will be watching for this. Be nice to speed up the DVD rips.

Is it similar to the ADS Video To-Go?

I remember reading a review about some USB hardware encoding device that worked quite well a few years back. Then it seems that nothing really transpired. Maybe with the advent of multi-core systems it made the piece of hardware obsolete?

Link to quick review confirms my multi-core suspicions.

Benchmarks for article:
Maybe use a few different CPUs to make it interesting. Core i7, Core2Quad, Core2Duo, Phenom II Quad, Phenom II X3, and a low power/slow CPU (maybe a AMD Athlon X2 4050e since it seems like a good choice for a HTPC).

30 minute 1080P TV episode to iPod.

DVD to 700MB file.

Software upscale DVD to 1080P vs WinFast HD in IQ and CPU usage.

I also wonder if the CPU + WinFast HD combo alter the encoding times any. In theory if the WinFast is doing all the work shouldn't the benchmarks stay relatively consistent?

*EDIT*
Just thought of another...
Maybe take a GTX 295 with CUDA and TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress and see how it compares.

*EDIT II*
Apparently my frontend (SageTV) supports this card. So if you get tired of playing with it you can send it my way and I'll test it subjectively in my HTPC.

Any update on the testing the PxVC1100, if i may ask, where did you buy the card? i am based in Europe (Ireland) i have been looking for any online shop, cant seem to find anything around Europe at least in English. Can you post any test results ( encoding a movie on DVD to H.264 with PxVC1100 and ecoding the same movie with Handbrake or Nero Recode 4 or Badaboom )

Thanx

Any update on when this will be published? I'm actually excited about this product and am curious how it performs.
