I couldn't find a direct comparison between the two, but performance wise the 4670 brings about 180% to 250% of the 8600 gts. It's not a big step down from the 4670 to the 4650, so I'd say it will still be on top of the 8600 gts. :)

What will the main purpose for this graphic card be?

Can I retract my vote? I clicked on the GTS by mistake >_<

The 4650 is like a generation (or two) ahead of the 8600GTS so it's going to be the faster of the two.

Well 4670 is about the same as that 9600GSO, so 4650 would be better than 8600gts.

With my Dell 350w power supply, I'm probably going to get a 4670. I considered the 9600GSO but the final cost of it comes out to 42 (inc shipping). 4670's are 55 now after rebate, but when the prices drop for the 4850+ I think these lower cards should drop too. If I see a 4670 in the 30's range I'm going to buy it.

It'll be sad too cause the 4850 will be 50 bucks (or less), but I'd need at least 450-500w power for that one, so if you add the extra 30 bucks to it for a replaced PSU it ceases to be something special. Besides, it's not like a budget Dell was made for serious gaming. It'll just make WoW prettier.

My brother is running his 4850 off a cheapo 350W power supply and It's working just fine.

Is that so? 4850's require a 450w I thought. People have reported trying the 4850 with stock power supplies (350w) and having game crashes and fps loss.

Well the rest of the rig isn't very much, he's got an Athlon 3500+ OCed, one HDD and one DVD drive and thats about it, so there's nothing else that could drain much power.
Crossfire definetly won't work, but if you don't have a lot of other stuff or a very power hungry CPU you should be fine.

Both cards are ok but they might tremble upon the awe of gtx295's frame rates in terms of gaming.

Although 8600 gts is Nvidia I decided to pick the 4670 because it would've faired better than the 8600 anyways in my opinion.

Still i would get the gtx 295 over the 4890 :)
