ok first I was going to get a 955 Phenom 2 but I saw good reviews on the 550 AMD so what would you all recommend? I am a gamer on a low-ish budget so yeah. OK for specs
Mobo- Gigabyte 770 UD3P
Ram- G skill 1333 4 gigs
GPU-XFX 260GX
Hard drive- 500 gb WD caviar
CPU-Up above
I love input. Nine out of ten this computer will be on for extended periods of time aswell

I hope you're already aware of the need for a quality power supply and that cheap ones are dangerous.
A firm favourite of the forums is the Corsair HX620.
A great PSU and it's quiet too.

but would that have enough juice for powering the system? I know cheapos are bad I was going to go with a sigma shark but, 650w I'm not sure if thats enough power with a phenom 2 955 or a amd phenom 550

Another thing to note with powersupplies is that it's not the total wattage rating that's important, but the amps available on the rails. Cheap powersupplies cheat the wattage rating by having lots of amps on the 5v & 3.3v rails (which modern pc's don't use a whole lot of). The decent powersupplies have lots of amps on the 12v rails, which GPUs & CPUs use a lot of.
So the HX620 corsair has like 50A on the 12v rail, so will be plenty of power for some pretty decent hardware.
Your listed hardware will only use 350-400W maximum and that's if you heavily overclock everything.

I would recommend a 750w power supply. And since its an XFX brand those use a lot of power and if u want you can visit neweggs power supply calculator. Dont know if its accurate but you can give it a try.
