need help

hey all,
I am fixing a friends computer. but before i reload XP i need to figure out what hardware he has so i can download the drivers. anyone know of a free program i can use to get this information so i can download the drivers?

well one solution would be to take off the side panel and see what he has in there, if you find some model numbers for his motherboard and such you should be able to find that part on the manufacturers website.
I think Everest also does a pretty intricate system inventory.

yeah its a part. nothing is printed on the motherboad. it could be under but i really dont want to tear it up just for that. I'll give everest a try.. Thanks

CPU-Z sometimes give you the mobo manufacture and model number.

Check and see if the motherboard has a silk screened FCC Part ID number on it. You can search the FCC website to find out who makes the board.

thanks everyone - i used everest was able to get all the info i needed easily. - the computer is 6-8 years old and was made by one of those fly by night manufactures. he is only going to use it to allown his kids to surf so it should be fine now..
