Need some opinions!

I'm doing a new build for a friend at work and want everyone's opinion on this combo deal that Newegg is offering! His needs are minimal when it comes to computer use, email, net use, DVD backup etc. We had decided on some parts and then I seen this combo deal and it is at least one step above what we had chosen at the same price! Is this combo worth it?

This is just the basics, Mobo, CPU, HDD, Memory!

Looks good. Maybe move up to 1000 GB for not much more money?

Smart combo. Get a second drive or external for portability and backups.

Nice deal with the zippy AMD CPU and only 65W of power towards heat to keep cool.

The MOBO seems to be very upgradable and flexible for multiply needs too.

Go for it.

pretty decent combo. The RAM is probably overkill for his system since is doesn't sound like he will be overclocking but it is a solid setup so I would go for it.

It'll suit his need just fine but 4GB is kind of overkill(for his needs) but it also wouldn't hurt to have more memory at the same time.

4G's is definitely overkill since he will be running XP Pro 32 bit, it will only read 3.25G at best.
he plans on Win 7 sometime down the line maybe even a 64 Bit edition!?!

Not much of an AMD type but it does look like a pretty good deal. The mobo seems to have some good upgradeability and, while the RAM is a bit of overkill, you wouldn't save a lot and he will be ready when he can get a 64-bit OS.

That was a big part of deciding to go with this combo was the upgradeability!
Besides the combo I ordered an OCZ ModXstream PSU, Lite-On DVD-RW, Antec Three Hundred Illusion and a Seagate 500G HDD!

This should take care of him for years to come! :)

It is! I assembled it over the weekend and its running great!
I'm impressed with the Antec Three Hundred Illusion case, its the same size and similar setup as my Nine Hundred!
The 2 big differences are "No Window" and smaller fan at the top!(140mm instead of a 200mm)
With the stock CPU cooler I ran Prime95 stress test for 10.5 hours it passed and only hit 50c!

I'm sure my friend will be more than happy! :)

That is nice for a CPU that is low on heat. Bet it runs great.

they all look good except for the processor. Its not that bad but i would have preferred an Intel core i7. And if you are buying the power supply and video card separately then that is a good deal indeed.

Note: Might wanna get a decent cpu fan as well:)

The PSU is an OCZ ModXstream 400W! $49.99
No video card, using the on board graphics!
His usage is minimal so the processor should be more than good enough!
If the future calls for More Power a CPU upgrade is easy since the board can handle AM2, AM2+ and AM3 CPU's!

He picks it up tomorrow! :supz:
