Hi guys
Dos any one here use OCCT benchmark and know if it is reliable? I did a test on my 4870 for 15 minuets and got 23 errors and the 12v dropped to about 11.76v, that's kind of low to me. I'm all so trying to figure out what is causing my crashing, I think it might be my video card. The image below is from OCCT and it show the 12v drop.

I would not suggest running OCCT on your 4800 series card. It will literally kill it by running it much harder than it was ever designed to.

Are you getting a blue screen? Have you tried turning down your CPU overclock to see if that fixes the crashes?

I'm getting blue most of the time and black it usually happens during boot, just after boot, just starting in windows, 2 or 3 minutes in to windows, it crashed 3 time in a row at boot and so forth. I clocked low, try voltage change. Did memtest86 ram is good, did prime95 that was good. I was thinking it was the video card but after seeing the graph I posted I'm starting to think it's the PSU. OH, after at lest one crash it's fine for the rest of the time.

I take it that OCCT is not design for ATI cards than?

i cant say onboard sensors are accurate at all for the PSU, OCCT says my 12v+ line is 5.99v, my multimeter says 12.16v.

when i run OCCT on my system testing my cards, my system will turn off like it has been turnt off by the switch on the wall. that now makes me realise that it must be my psu however without any money or time i cant check another psu in my system to see if it is my current one doing this.

The general rule I use if it errors in occt it usual a part problem, if it shuts down in occt and nothing is overclocked it is a power supply problem. 11.76 volts are still in spec., not good and your psu might be weak. What power suppy are you running.

i'd get a multimeter and test all your sources before coming to definite conclusions though

occt tells me that i get 7.14 on the 12v and multimeter 12.34 which is still less then the psu should do lol. does anyone else get this! oh and i got an ezcool tornado 800w.

My PSU is ABS Tagan ITZ 800W and it has 6 12v rails.
I all so tried to use the power supply test on OCCT and my screen went black and all my fans jump to max speed. :-k

I just might do that, yet I've bin wanting a better PSU. Of course I do need to see if it's my PSU or video card.

Are you putting stress on it when you use the multimeter?

Another good test for for checking your video card is folding@home, if your card is not overclocked and gpu folding errors out with an unstable machine error the card is bad. To test my overclocks I run occt power supply mode, prime95 and fold on the gpu all at the same time, this gives me max heat on all my parts and max power draw off the power supply. I have two machines , one can do all three without issue for hours with no errors, the other one turns off like a light switch after about 20 minutes. Both machines have pretty much the same parts except one has a new power supply and the other one has a 3 year old power supply, It can only run two those tests on it at one time without a problem.

I need to sine up for folding to try it, thanks I did know folding could check you card like that. I'll post what I find out.

I have sine up for folding and ran it. Will it indicate at the beginning if my card is bad?

I need to download a translator to read the foreign sites which I'll do soon.
Thanks for the info it's got my curiosity up, thanks

Well it's not my video card. Most of the crash codes point to the OS, I'll see if win 7 will fix the problem once I get it.
