Hi. I am thinking of purchasing a laptop. I have an asus xonar dx2

(pci-express) and a creative elite pro (pci) soundcard and would love to

keep them. Is there any way to use them with the laptop.

Could the laptop be opened up and the card inserted into a vacant slot,

or is there any kind of external adaptor i could buy to create an external

pci slot. I'm not bothered if the laptop won't close back up properly.

I know it's unlikely but i thought i'd ask the experts first.

I'm by no means an expert but I don't believe laptop and desktop components are interchangeable.

Laptops typically have sound chips that are soldered or built into the motherboard, so unfortunately, you're stuck with what you have.

Or get a new USB sound card (like Creative GO!) :)

This Product will supposedly let you use a PCI-E graphics card on your laptop, and is very expensive, but would be worth a try for academic curiosity. Your best bet is to buy a usb sound card that is very likely better than the ones you are trying to keep.
