Just thought I might put it out there that I am ANNOYED. "Why are you annoyed" I hear you say? Well that is because TEAM RAM is rubbish. When I built my desktop, I put in 4GB TEAM Xtreem Dark 1066MHz. After about 2 months of use, my computer began to have difficulty booting, in fact it didn't boot at all. I thought that the problem was to do with my Blu-Ray Writer, as I had tried the build with several motherboards which had subsequently not worked due to either incompatibility with my ODD or CPU. I tried unplugging the drive, etc. to no avail. Eventually I figured out that one of my sticks of RAM was stopping my computer from booting. No real biggie, it could run on 2GB. As soon as I realised that the RAM was my problem, I checked the warranty on my RAM. Lifetime warranty, Score! So I went onto the TEAM website, and put in an RMA request. They sent me (in rather poor english) an excel document that I had to fill in to get the RAM RMA'ed. BUT they said I had to send both DIMMs in the original packaging. Now, that wasn't happening because sending my RAM to Taiwan would not only take a long time, but it would be expensive in terms of delivery and I might not even get them RMA'ed. Also, I couldn't handle my new PC being out of action for something like 3 Months. So I used the PC with 2GB RAM, which was at some times, very frustrating as programs like Adobe Suite took forever and Virus scans stopped my PC in its tracks. But, I could live with it. This morning though, the PC once again began having difficulties booting (having blue-screened the night before) I suspected the TV card which I had recently re-installed and *finally* got working, which had in the past created difficulties for the machine. But in the end it seems that it was once again, the RAM which was broke. So I will be going down to the parts shop and getting some new RAM, this time definitely NOT from Team.
So, in light of this, what do you guys know about Patriot RAM? I'm considering getting "4GB Kit (2x2GB) Patriot Viper 1066MHz DDR2" Please tell me especially in terms of reliability, as I want to continue to have 4GB (at least until I get a 64Bit OS )
Thanks for reading through my Rant!

Well, for one I don't have the height clearance (any more) since I installed my Thermaltake Blue Orb II CPU cooler. Also, I'm not sure if Newegg ship to Aus? I'm just looking at RAM from my local PC parts shop http://msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf the difference between the Patriot and G Skill is only $4 any way...

My first choice is Corsair. My fist laptop upgrade was Corsair from 1/2Gb to 2Gb. It worked flawlessly. I got a mircoXD card for my Virgin Mobile phone. It was Corsair again. This time, the card was quirky and then died. It would not even format. RMA'ed to Corsair and had the new microXD within a week and a half. That card is still working three years strong today.
Definitely I would get Corsair if it was available and practical (in terms of price). Here is the parts list for the parts company I'm buying from http://msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf as you can see, not a very wide selection of 1066MHz DDR2...

My RAM preference is Corsair but the budget doesn't always allow that. I've used mostly A-Data recently and haven't had an issue. I am running 4GB of Patriot DDR2 800 Extreme Performance in one of my machines and so far so good. When I OC I try to keep the RAM as close to it's recommended speed rating to avoid stability issues. With that said Patriot is an American company based out of California so if you needed to RMA a product it might take just as long as it would going to Taiwan. Then again Corsair is based out of California too.
Well it's pretty much all from Taiwan or somewhere in the USA, but if you say that your Patriot has been running fine, I will probably take that in preference to G Skill, it just seems more reputable. How long have you been running this machine with Patriot? Also, I haven't really done any RAM overclocking. Also considering my Team RAM was running at about 400MHz for most of its life confuses me as to why it died.

The Patriot I have has been running about 6 months. I will have to fire the machine up to see what speed it is running at though. The slightly impressive thing about the stuff is it is in my water cooling experiment box that only has one 1000 RPM intake fan to essentially cool the system internals.
