Hi All, i'm having a problem with setting my primary monitor to a certain card. Now i have 2 9800GT's in SLI and the card on top is always is always being used as the primary card but i want the bottom card as primary so when in games that don't use SLI bottom card is the one that gets used.
Now i was told that to change which card is used as primary i have to plug the monitor into the card i want as primary, then go into display settings and depending on whether the card i want as primary is GPU 1 o GPU 2 select the correct one and that card will be primary.
well GPU 1 is top and GPU 2 is bottom using evga precision's graphics cards temp to tell me this (top card is hottest must be GPU 1) so GPU 2 is set as primary and monitor plugged into it, but still no matter what, GPU 1 gets used and i have turnt SLI off to try and get this to work right and still no success.

I need help with this thx guys :x

Have you tried unplugging the first card, in case the second one is somewhat broken?

I have found out that when i turn SLI off only recently in display settings i have 3 displays to select and display 3 is GPU 2 the one at the bottom after testing it my card at the bottom is now my primary but i can only get this when SLI is disabled as soon as i enable SLI display 3 vanishes. and display 1 and 2 are left. seeing as i have 2 DVI ports i will get 2 display settings of which are both for GPU 1 only and GPU 2 appears when SLI is disabled.

Is there a way round this?

Have you tried physically swapping around the cards?

What ARE you trying to achieve? It might be easier if you told us the end result, to which an appropriate process can be engineered. :)

well after finding out that SLI means that i cant have any other card as primary. The card closest to the power supply is always the primary in SLI. I was hoping to be able to get the cards cooler but i was wrong. My bad
