Darkstar, I take it you want to buy a 275. Why? You have so many rigs right now, what are your CPU's. The SMP client sounds really good right now. I'm sure that you can get something going. What are you trying to do? I'm sure whatever you do, it's going to be bigger better and faster! :drinkers:

Caps popping on my XFX cards and i couldnt get them replaced because i didnt "register" them. The 275's are good cards for the replacement and the Eggs were nicely priced.

XfX will take care of you. Just go on the XFX website and go to support and post your serial number on your cards. Might take a while but they will take care of you . They did it for me. After a week of talking to support they gave me a RMA number. Just go through the steps. My question is if I already RMA;d my cards, how do I register them if they are already RMA'd?

XFX Support people were the ones that refused to take them back.

One already went in the trash, have to look around to see if i kept any of the others and go through the online invoices for the purchases.

thanks,

The oven trick is when you cook an electronic part in the oven for a while. This is supposed to have a general soldering effect and has been reported to work by some.

yup, it works

half the used notebook video cards on e-bay are 'fixed' or being sold as fine have this method being used on them. It works, but is not a long term solution. I wouldn't recommend buying a used video card online. When I saw dead geforce mobile cards going for $80 on e-bay I knew something was up about a year ago. They are doing the oven trick and selling them with a 30 day warranty for $500... I had a local customer of mine go through three cards under warranty off e-bay before finally getting a refund and the guy told me this trick was what he was doing. I think it was fall of 2008 I guess.

If it's the caps like darkstar said though, the oven trick won't do anything for him.

@darkstar you could try replacing the caps :P

they actually don't seem terribly hard to replace(heat up the back side, pull the caps, cut new legs to length, heat again, drop the newones on, gotta check polarity tho) if you are careful with dangerous and precise tools anyway

Even if you didn't register those they should still be able to RMA them for you. All they need to do is check the serial numbers to verify whether they are still under warranty or not.
