Automatic Voltage Regulator? Which is built into most of the good UPS setups?

does your utility provide a very unstable supply of power the you need to have it regulated? you would save yourself some money by just buying a UPS to prevent surges or powerloss.

Personally I always go with a UPS that has AVR - helps keep that power nice and clean.

I use a lot of Tripp Lite products. I also have two UPS's by APC that work great as well.

Re: What is the best brand for an AVR?
well then, I will look more on UPS with AVR I think.. Personally, its worth having an avr especially when your area/region has an unstable power distribution. instead of 220-240 it might spike to 250 or more. that would be good for my pc. What is the benefit of having an UPS anyway?

Smooth/regulate the voltage that it discharges. Most people use them for power failures. If you are working on your PC and the power goes out a UPS gives you time to save your data and properly shut down the computer.
