First-timer's Build

Post by Wavid »

Hey guys, i was thinking of building my own PC and already got some components I've decided on...here they are:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811119196
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813128406
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6827118030

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product

So I know I won't run SLI or anything fancy like that..but will 500w be enough for GTS 250 (w/HDMI)? I'm pretty sure my motherboard can take Radeon and nVidia cards...is that true? Some help deciding on components would be GREATLY appreciated.

Yes that power supply is enough to run a GTS 250. The board will work with either an ATi or nVidia card. I didn't see a DVD-ROM/Burner in there so I assume you are using you old one.

great! there's only one problem..my motherboard only has one PCI Express 2.0x16 and it looks like the graphics card I've decided on has two PCI slots..

That card is fine. It's PCIe 2.0, that's not the number just the revision of the PCIe interface.
