Laptop charger port issue

Hello,
I have recently run into a little trouble with my laptop.

The charging port on my ASUS M50-Vm has come loose, and no longer charges the machine. It may be out of warranty, and I was wondering where I could get this problem fixed, if anywhere, without getting a new laptop.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tekgek

Remove the battery pack and charge in the port itself? Maybe your battery pack is to blame, not the actual power-in port.

If the actual port is loose, then I would take it somewhere or call the manufacturer for a warranty unless you have soldering experience with motherboards. Probably the power connectors to the motherboard just came loose which is why it won't charge.

I have the exact same laptop. It was released in the summer of 2008 and Asus has a standard warranty of 2 years (at least in North America), so you should give them a call and see if they you can get an RMA number. You'll likely loose your laptop for a week or so, but i think that's the least of your problems.

Is the power port on the laptop loose or is the charger end bent?
I see quite often that the charger end is bent from accidental hits.
