Temps

my 955 BE is running a bit too hot for my liking (43 C idle) with the boxed heatsink/fan and it's really starting to worry me. i've done no overclocking and my motherboard temperature is only 26 C. is this normal?

for a quad thats pretty normal, if you upgraded to any nice heatpipe cooler it would be a big improvement

but for stock cooling, thats not horrible.

what temps do you get at full load?

i've never pushed my CPU to full load across all the cores except on cinebench, and i didn't get to measure the temperatures that time. what's the range of temp. i should be in?

AMD recommends a max of 62C, but it's probably best to keep it under 60.

my processor is fine...but my HSF sounds like a wind tunnel fan or something. is 4750-5200 RPM normal? i installed the EPU-4 engine that came with my M4A79X EVO and it's set to high performance. on max. power saving the fan only goes about 1000RPM.

every hs/f is different but that is a really fast fan

i got this cooler with both my Phenom II X2 and Athlon II X4

aftermarket heatsinks will always be a major improvement in temps and sound level though, best buy has a rocketfish cooler for 29.99 that works very well

using an ocz vendetta, my quad cores have AMD Cool N Quiet and rarely go above 45 C...with the fan spinning at 400-600 rpm. im sure my temps would be lower if i manually set the fan to spin at max, but since the CPU is built with heat in mind, i wouldnt worry too much about heat. my pentium 4 will actually undervolt and set its fan to max when it used to video render in HD

Any idea of the quality of thermal paste you have between the heatsink and CPU?

i used the pre applied paste that AMD ships with their HS/F
