I use a Iiyama vision master pro 454 --> 19" CRT

Can't remeber max resolution but higher than most

Main thing is I can run 1600x1200 @ 100hz if I want (use 85hz)

Not sure how much it will cost or is even available anymore

I hate doing this.... but here's a link to Toms review (no flaming pls for linking to toms!)

I always like ViewSonic they make great CRT's. If you really want the best look for a used Sony or Dell 24" crt, thats what I use it lets me run at 1920x1200@72hz and damn games look good on it.

Not only will Yves monitor deliver life sized characters during gaming.....it also serves as a workout. Yves can develop a 14 step workout program around your new 300lb monitor.......

:)

I love running games at 1600x1200 100hz, and 2048x1536 75hz.

IBM had these on sale for $200 a while back, but it appears they are all gone. Absolutely incredible monitor. I got mine from Azatek, and it's been going strong for... well I can't remember how long exactly but it must be at least 2 years.

The best CRTs use Trinitron and Diamondtron tubes, there's no competition there.

I picked up a refurb 21" Sony CPD-G520P w/3 year warranty for under $300 Canadian a few months ago, it's a beauty.

I have the same ViewSonic monitor that Nate does. It gets used by family and friends when they are over (They aren't allowed to touch MY system) and they all comment on the picture quality. Great $200 monitor

$200 :shock:

If only Nate could provide free shipping to Ireland :)

not to offend anyone but I think all CRT's just suck. whenever I look at one for more than 10 min. my eyes start hurting and I get a headache. this tells me that no matter how high you set them (Hz) they are bad for my eyes. on the other hand I could look at an LCD for 10 hours and no problem. I also see many people who use CRT's having glasses. I have a perfect vision so far at age 36 and would like to keep it this way as long as possible. I've been using LCD since '98...

Well i have been looking at CRT's for the past 15 years and im not having and problems with my eyes. The reason i still like CRT's over LCDs is color. New LCD's are getting better and better but they still cannot reproduce color correctly. Sinice i use my computer for gaming, video editing and graphics i need good color reproduciton.

no I haven't but its not just the screen vibration which I guess can be much better like that but CRT's also have radiation which I read somewhere could cause cancer. TV's also have radiation, except with PC monitors you sit much closer than to a TV. I know that CRT's did improve by lowering radiation and vibration but I just don't trust them. sorry.

Good monitor no doubt, but I'm gonna go with Zelig on this one and go with Sony, mainly because I've had a couple of their TV's (and I really do mean a couple because they've lasted me so long) and I've nothing but good experiences with them. I know family members who have had their flat panel monitors, and said they were absolutely great. Therefore, I'm going to try em, maybe in something like a 22" LCD monitor (maybe one with a DVI interface for HD).
