I recently put together a PC for a friend of a friend. He ordered the an OCZ ModXStream 600W, due to build quality and price. I had the PC up and running fine. My friend brought his PC over and I unplugged the original one to work on his. Go to plug his back in and press the power button, nothing, nada, zip, zilch. I get out my Coolmax PSU Tester and the screen flashes for a second then dies.

Attached (sorry it's Hotfile but it includes the OCZ and a working power supply) are some videos. They were converted to DivX format and compressed with WinRAR if you are having trouble opening the files.

When I went to unplug this machine the power cord was secured good. I removed it with some force. Did I possibly break something removing the power cord? I've never seen this happen and I'm at a loss.

I've had DOA power supplies, one that blew and several that just went dead. This is not something I've encountered.

already checked to see if you blew a fuse or tripped a circuit breaker? just a random idea but it might be worthwhile to check

Yeah I went around checking GFI switches and the TV that is on the same surge protector is working fine.

Hmm, well I guess its another case of OCZ's sudden PSU death syndrome... Same thing happened with a StealthXSteam PSU on my buddy's system when I was helping him through a full-tower upgrade :/

What I don't understand is the thing has worked fine (AFAIK) for the past week. The 12V reading in Everest, HWMonitor, etc... was way off but I just chalked that up to it not being read correctly. This isn't all that common of a motherboard so I figured the big names didn't care if they got all the monitoring info right or not (product site).

All I can say is his PSU worked fine for 2 days then crapped out completely. We ended up going with a Corsair HX620 for the replacement as my buddy didn't feel comfortable getting another OCZ PSU with all the DOA and sudden death reports all over Newegg customer reviews.

Now I'm really freaking confused. I just pulled the supply and reconnected the modular cables I needed to retest it and it works. I'm installing Windows on it now as I type this. Maybe it was due to a faulty modular connection? At this point I don't know and really don't care. I got this thing 3 weeks ago to remove spyware so at this point I'm ready for it to be gone.
