Wireless Cards

Post by Sparky »

I need to get a PCI wireless card that is compatible with Windows 7 64 bit. When I was running the beta & RC 1, I couldn't get the card I had to work (drivers unavailable at the time). I'm still using my old Lynksis WRT 54G for my router so all I really require is a 802.11g card, but stepping up to a 802.11n card that was back wards compatible is an option as well.

Can anybody recommend a good card that works well with my OS?

I just got me a D-Link DWA-556 Xtreme N PCIe card, which works really well. But as your looking for a PCI card I guess the D-Link DWA 547 would do, and it's only half the price.

Went ahead and got a D-Link DWA-556 (PCI-E) and it works just fine under W7 64 bit.

I couldn't tell by looking on Newegg, is the card 150 or 300? I hope you didn't pay more than want I saw it for on the Egg ($44.99 + free shipping).

I picked it up at Fry's because I needed it right away. We just bought a new home and it doesn't have ethernet in the right locations (yet). Paid $59 for the luxury of having it now instead of ordering from Newegg for $44.
