Unexpected System Temperatures!

Hi everyone, in this summer heat here in the uk my rig has been getting hotter both idle and load. I have been trying to find a way to keep it cooler without breaking the bank (infact not spending a penny as i dont have any) and have found for me a great solution  If you have a look at the pictures of my rig http://forums.legitreviews.com/about15415-140.html you will see what i have :) anyway to cool down my rig all i did was turn the 80mm side fan off and OMG the temp drop was amazing

So here are my temps with 80mm side fan on:

IDLE: CPU 46c - CORE 0 and 1 39c - GPU 1 60c - GPU 2 52c - HDD 37c - SYSTEM 47c
LOAD: CPU 58c - CORE 0 and 1 52c - GPU 1 85c - GPU 2 69c - HDD 47c - SYSTEM 55c

And now with the 80mm side fan off:

IDLE: CPU 47c - CORE 0 and 1 41c - GPU 1 57c - GPU 2 49c - HDD 34c - SYSTEM 43c
LOAD: CPU 60c - CORE 0 and 1 55c - GPU 1 82c - GPU 2 66c - HDD 45c - SYSTEM 51c

What do you think off that?

Maybe the side fan is messing with the convection of the case?.?.?.? Does your case have an front intake fan installed?

no front intake at all! just confused but want to get my cpu a little cooler lol

That's a good reason, you have more exhaust pressure than intake pressure. Basically imbalancing the convection system and getting the hot air to pool, so to speak. Add a front intake fan and plug back in your side fan. All should be right in the universe then.

+1---You need a front intake fan for good positive airflow through your case...Once you get something installed(hopefully at least a 120mm fan) and turn your

Side panel fan back on you should see your temps drop....

ok i will give it a go but my trouble is that i have a vent at the front for a fan 120mm but this case design on the front covers most of the vent so it wont do much good!

It will pull more air in than you think. Look at the Antec Sonata cases and from what I've read they have good airflow.

UPDATE

2x Akasa AK-170CB-4BLS 8cm Blue LED case fan that has 34.6 CFM and seeing as i have room for 4x 80mm fans on the front 2 in-line with the hadr drive that is also in-line with my GPU's should hopefully cool my system down a lil more! By the way many of you have seen pictures of my case on page 8 of the post you rig post and you can see the cables badly all over the place well soon new pics of the case with proper cable managemnet will be up!

So... Did you order fans or are you telling us the options you have?

Here are the previous temps:

80mm side fan on:

IDLE: CPU 46c - CORE 0 and 1 39c - GPU 1 60c - GPU 2 52c - HDD 37c - SYSTEM 47c
LOAD: CPU 58c - CORE 0 and 1 52c - GPU 1 85c - GPU 2 69c - HDD 47c - SYSTEM 55c

80mm side fan off:

IDLE: CPU 47c - CORE 0 and 1 41c - GPU 1 57c - GPU 2 49c - HDD 34c - SYSTEM 43c
LOAD: CPU 60c - CORE 0 and 1 55c - GPU 1 82c - GPU 2 66c - HDD 45c - SYSTEM 51c

80mm side fan on with 2x 80mm front panel fans on:

IDLE: CPU 43c - CORE 0 and 1 36c - GPU 1 56c - GPU 2 48c - HDD 25c - SYSTEM 41c
LOAD: CPU 50c - CORE 0 and 1 46c - GPU 1 80c - GPU 2 64c - HDD 35c - SYSTEM 48c

Now thats a nice lump of cooling!

Got some air moving now. Glad to see it knocked the temps down a bit.

Wow 2 80mm intake fans makes a nice difference in your temps...Good job.. :drinkers:

Now you just need to get the cables uncluttered and it should improve your temps a little more....Unless you cleaned it up already...

cables are all done too :) and ok it doesn't look to great but should hopefully have some pictures up within the next 2 days to show you the previous cable management and fans compared to the current cable management and fans =P~
