So I'm trying to find a monitor on par with with my 27' iMac. All I know about the iMac display is that it is LED backlit. What are the best choices right now in Monitors?

Well you could drop the $1000 and get the Apple 27inch they have out or will soon; which should match your Imac Panel.

Or you spend ~375 and get a HP or Viewsonic or Asus.

I bought a HP 2710m a couple months back. Everything about it is good so far. My one complaint is that 1920x1080 is a little low for me at this size. But to get a better resolution you end up paying $900+.

If I was to spend over $400 though, I would probably go with a 30inch Hp or Dell.

What size and resolution are you looking to get? Reason I ask is because you can get a 37" LED LCD off of the Egg cheaper than you can get a 27" monitor. If 1920x1080 is ok then I'd pick up a TV.

Looking for a 27" with a 2560X1440 Resolution, 1920x1080 is not a high enough resolution for me

Well then your only options really are Dell or wait for Apple to start selling its.

Thats the 27 inch model that I saw online that seemed to be the best in class. And what about your thoughts on a 30 inch model?

Hp just refreshed their 30inch.

Here is a link to a review: http://www.anandtech.com/show/3754/a-ne ... 30w-review

Im not sure if I'd go with it, or go with Dells 3007WFP, or 3008WHP. The Anandtech review shows scores for the 3007WFP as well in various tests, so you can get a decent idea how it stacks up.

Outside of those few I think LG makes a 30inch at around the same price. NEC also does, but at around twice the price it is hard to fathom why anyone buys one.

Also of note is the 30inch are still 16:10 displays. Which I think is better for everything but watching 16x9 video. I wish they had not switched format on us. I hope to buy a 16:10 30inch myself next spring.
