I have a Asus RT-16, and while its an amazing router under the right circumstances (ie not in an apartment where there are tons of 2.4GHZ Frequencies), this is not one of the those circumstances. The Range is horrible due to the interference that is all around me. So I need either a good Dual Band Router, or a Router that use 5.8GHZ Range. It must have very good range, as there are 3 walls it has to go through in order to get to my bedroom. The Wireless setup is in the Living room, which has on both sides bedrooms that need wireless.

It don't need special Media Center Features, or VPN, or anything silly like that, just a damn fast wireless N/G Router.

Sorry bud I don't know. I do know that the Belkin Surf (N 300) I bought last week is a POS. My wireless NICs keep disappearing and the connection is hit or miss. Going from past experience I'm not a big fan of Linksys routers either. Best brand I've used to date is D-Link but all 3 I've owned only lasted a year. I guess they make the PCB out of paper mache.

If you have the tools and more patience than I do you can wire a house in an afternoon with Cat 5. Get a good gigabit switch and call it a day. This way you don't have other things interfering with the signal or the hacker neighbor trying to break your encryption so he can Limewire with your IP.

The current top performer is the Netgear WNDR3700 but it's nearly $200

The D-Link DAP-2553 also has great reviews and is just shy of $100

The D-Link DIR-665 Xtreme N 450 is another good choice but sells for ~$170

im using a Linksys E1000 802.11b/g/n which is situated in a back unit so it goes through the room wall / garage/ open yard, then my outside wall wich is stucco/wire mesh/lath and then plaster on the inside...kind of peters out after that

Or would he... Point taken, you said you weren't in an apartment/flat so I assumed you own. Don't the powerline adapters work better in newer homes? If your house has old wiring doesn't that affect the signal?

No it said, the right circumstances the router works well. The right circumstance is not in an apartment, and I'm in one. I'm going with the Powerline again, it works well. There is no way I'm paying 200+ dollars for a router. My roommate only has wireless G, so I've locked it down to G, and I'll just go wired were I can in my bedroom.
