A friend of mine just switched his fan controller for a a new one,and he deicided to give me his old Vantec NXp-201 BK. I was thinking of putting this into my PC since I got a couple of fans running on max and they are pretty loud. Just wondering if any of you own/have owned/experience with one of these and I would like some comments about this fan controller.
Thanks.

Looks like a solid unit. The only thing that would bug me about it are the bright LEDs. I'd install it and see if any of the fan headers are burned out. Fan controllers are known to run extremely hot. And that heat could've caused one of the channels to blow.

Thanks Major; I finally got around to testing the fan controller out today on my extra PSU (paper clip trick FTW). It runs great with no problems. You're right about the LEDs being too bright, but I'm not too concerned about them.

What i did for quite a while now , was using my programmed Arduino microcontroller to PWM the fan on my cpu cooler , i pulled in the power directly from the mobo to the arduino , hooked a 5V line up to the output line to control the fan , actually i use two potentiometers both rated 500ohms .
This is to prevent any loss at all .
From inside , i control the microcontroller over USB , so i can power control it over software .
It makes sense for me , but i don't know about you .
( And for the LED's , if my one does ever come with one , i usually take them out , and mount it separately to be controlled by a second 1kohm resistor )
