Best graphics card?

My buddy has a Dell Dimension E520 with a 305W PSU. It currently uses a ATi Radeon X1300 Pro 128MB video card. What is the best video card he can use without changing anything.

Probably any card that doesn't need external power. This would be my guess...

It says it needs a 400W power supply but I somehow doubt that. And that is now confirmed with this graph.

I would say either an NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 or AMD Radeon HD 5670 are the top without getting a new power supply

I have ran a GTS 250 in an older dimension 4700 (same 305w power supply) and it ran because the low wattage rating from the power supply is all from the 12v lines which are the most important, but I still didn't trust it at all, nor would I recommend it

I would try to find a 5670 with a nice heatsink, preferably one that doesn't need a PCIe 6-pin power connector, but they might all need one

I highly recommend buying the EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti or the GeForce GTX 480.

Both nice cards, but they wouldn't work with the OP's power supply.

3x GTX280 in triple SLI is the fastest setup you can currently buy if you have the money.

No. Let me guess, you're trying to build legit posts before you go Spambo on the forums, right?

Looks that way Major.

@op
What is your friend trying to achieve with the graphics card upgrade? Looking up the E520 it seems he is stuck with a Pentium D? from 2005. So he might not gain enough to be able to smoothly play games on that system by just upgrading to a new graphics card.

So it might be better for him to just live with it for a while longer and save up for a larger upgrade.

* lol another spammer below me in a different language. At least his avatar is kinda cool.
