Clearance issue with Tt Frio & Crosshair IV Formula?

Post by lordvic »

I'm planning to use the push-pull configuration for the Thermaltake Frio CPU cooler along with my Crosshair IV Formula mobo. I would like to know if there are any RAM clearance issues with the CPU cooler. I'm using G.Skill Ripjaws 2 X 4GB 1600Mhz modules; these ones exactly http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product.
Will the first and/or second slot be blocked?...in which I can't run in dual-channel mode... I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone can answer my question. :)

Thanks in advance.

the Frio's fan will cover that 1st mem slot .others have used the Corsair XMS ,removed the fan installed mem first with this combination of Frio -Crosshair-Corasir XMS .Obviously if staying with the Ripjaws memory get a dif cooler.

I see; thanks!
I'll try out the cooler first and see how it goes; thought about getting a H70, but bailed on the last minute...
I only have 2 sticks, and the Mobo has the RAM slots setup as A1 A2, B1 B2. If only the first RAM slot is blocked, I can still use A2 B2 for Dual-channel :) .

I brought a FRIO the other day. I originally had Dominators (DDR2) I would have had to cut the fins off them if I was going to use the Noctua D14 like I was planning to, so I sold the ram and brought g.skills. I didn't end up buying the Noctua. I have an ASUS M3A79T-Deluxe board. I would assume the ram slot placement is the same between my board and yours. It stopped just shy of touching the first ram slots memory (closest to the cpu), meaning over hanging the slot.

Hi Locksmiff, i have the same MB with you, and i am planing to buy TT Frio too, would you be able to upload a photo how the cooler sit on the MB?
And also which direction it face? I assume it will face towards the rear exhaust fan? Thanks

If you can wait one day I will take a pic for you. The direction is back to front (facing towards the rear exhaust) It comes with 2 fans. It was to big for the case by a couple of mm's I take the fan bracket things off (the things with the red bar) took the red bar off and turn them around so the bar side was facing down.
