Funny Product Reviews

Post by pwcmed »

There was a shell shocker for a $20 power supply the other day that had a review that was kind of funny.
2 out of 5 eggsRating: 2/5Fried mobo.

Pros: 2 SATA, 4 Molex, every other normal connector. Came with 3 free zip ties!

Cons: Fried my motherboard thanks to the 29 amps on the 12 volt rail, beware! I know of NO motherboard that will accept that high of a voltage.

Other Thoughts: I was going to use this to replace my PHD Series from Diablotek, which only supplies 19 amps on the 12 volt rail.
By this logic Corsair power supplies are the worst power supplies in the world.

Just shows you that people who are self proclaimed "computer experts" are usually morons. This is why you don't want to buy an open box item from Fry's either. The Phenom I'm typing this from was the last in stock and open box. I knew I should've checked it out before I left the store. Got home to find 4 bent pins on the CPU. Rather than drive the hour plus round trip to Fry's I straightened the pins and it's been rocking away since.

Heh, that reminds me of when I was looking to buy a new cooler for my GPU and there was one review complaining about shorting and ruining his entire computer. I hadn't changed a GPU cooler before that point so I was worried. I went ahead and ordered the cooler anyway. When putting it together, it seemed easy, a little too easy. So I was afraid that I was missing something. Turns out everything was fine and I was left wondering what that guy did to screw up his system.
