my friend is looking to be able to play crysis 2 on hardcore settings. he will need to upgrade the GPU and is leaning towards a nvidia 580. The rest of his system will have
AMD 9950 CPU, GA-ma770-ds3p ATX motherboard and 2GB of 1066 DDR2 RAM. Does anyone think that the CPU, MB or RAM would prevent Crysis 2 from running on hardcore or bottleneck the system?

on a single monitor he should not have much of an issue. in crysis 2 the differences between gamer, hardcore, and advanced is minimal. at least i did not see much of a difference between these settings. he may wanna overclock his cpu a bit to help out on his frame rates.

Should have at least 4GB of RAM for any modern system.

The most important question here hasn't been asked. What is his monitor's max resolution? If he has an older 1280x1024 or 1440x900 then he will NOT need a GTX 580. Hell he can probably get away with most settings at max with a GTX 460. Crysis 2 isn't that demanding of a game. I am running everything on Extreme minus AA and HDR/AO on a GTX 260, see sig HAL9000.
