Dillemma

Post by LastShark »

Hi there everyone. Just joined your site today. Been reading this site for sometime.
I have a bit of a dilemma. I would like to build myself a new Desktop PC.
I can't decide if I should go for the LGA1155 or LGA1366 motherboard.
Can anyone enlighten me on it?
If I go for the LGA1155 then I would probably go for the 2600k Sandy Bridge CPU.
Otherwise the i7-970 if I were to go for the LGA1366.
But I don't know which to choose. I use processing power, i.e. applications not games.
Anyone with advice?

first and foremost what are your plans with the pc? gaming only with other light editing and other things, or is it going to be used as a heavy video editing/audio editing? if gaming only then the 1155 be the best choice, because all current CPU's (1155/1156/1366, quad to hex cores all give roughly the same amount of performance, verified that by myself) if you doing video/audio editing then a 1366 core i7 970 be the best choice the shear count of threads will make short work of it. I am currently running a Core i7 970 and i do lot of image converting, video editing, and such.

Thanks for replying DragonFury.
I am a Software Developer, so I normally have many apps open at the same time.
So which would be ideal for me. I dont do any gaming at all.
