To Refurb, or Not to Refurb...

this is the question..

I found some insanely low prices on Refurbished Video cards at Newegg.com and I am soooo tempted to get one insted of paying out the buttox for a new one.

So whats some opinions on getting a refurb video card? im still running a GeForce Ti 4600  so im sure its understood i need something up to date.

If they didn't have a 19" LCD for 200 bucks on sale for Black Friday I would be tempted to get that refurbished also.

The only refurb I got was my 15" LCD monitor, and that was by accident (I didn't know it was refurbished when I bought it... Damn ebay stores!).
I'd say it's a toss up.

working for a service industry myself and the experience in refurbing products, I say go with it. Most times refurb products are qc'd more so than standard retail. However your chances of getting one that fails out of box is higher. In that case you return it and try your chances again. Hope that helps!

It's NewEgg. They won't screw you, even if the refurb is bad. Trust me, NewEgg doesn't play games with customer service, that's why everyone loves them. If you have issues with NewEgg, chances are you screwed up somewhere...

I have purchased videa cards, motherboards and hard drives from Neweggs' refurb area. They have all worked. The only issue I had was an Abit AI7 that someone had screwed up flashing the bios. All I did was re-flash and I was up and running.

I say go for it!

hmmmmmmm.....personally even I didn't think about refurb'd items.....might have to look into that myself if their refurb video cards are decent.

figures.....businesses can be greedy and would want to put as much money in their pockets as possible, and I guess that's just one way of doing it.....on the other hand, if something goes wrong with one of the PC's it comes right back out, so it's counterproductive, lol....sometimes large business people are idiots

Nothing wrong with refurbished parts IMO as long as the company you get them from stands behind them............ 8) I'd say that getting them from Newegg would be a safe move.
