Post by Dragon_Cooler »

Ok i have done some research on refresh rates, but i still dont understand how they affect your system.

Can they affect fps?
What is the best rate?
how do you know what to set it too? (based on video card or monitor)

basically, the higher the better. but make sure you're within your monitor and video card's recommended range. it wont help your fps but it will reduce your headaches or eye strain from long game sessions..

here's more info: http://computer.howstuffworks.com/monitor8.htm

Whatis.com refresh rate info

hope that helps...

Use 75 as a minimum, 85 or better preferred. Most folks set it to the highest their monitor will support (at a given resolution). If you have a 21" CRT it's best to stick with a max of 85. RR's Higher than 85 seems to wear the big ones out quicker.
