Hey, I'm wondering what all you guys (or gals) out there would be looking for in a new computer company? Things to differentiate us from CyberPowerPC, Ibuypower, and any others that i can't name off the top of my head. I wouldn't be starting this company for a while, as I'm still in middle school. I would likely start it after i get out of college. But it's good to plan ahead eh'? Any suggestions will be noted and saved for later as I value your advise.

There might not be any custom building computer companies out there by then. Ex. laptops are taking over (unfortunately) and the number of PC enthusiasts are declining. It's realy hard to tell what will be in 6-10 years.

I'm seeing a ton of custom builders really struggling right now. Some have even started doing hardware reviews they are so slow and in an attempt to get more brand recognition.

For those young aspiring Micheal Dell wanna-be out there. Here is a free idea to take further in computing design and usage. While Ultra slim metal cases are the current approach, I see modular laptops, mobile, htpc designs that can go a long way to having inter-changeable parts/pieces that are usable yet can be configured to be powerful as well (such as dualGPU gaming laptops). The current design is to have aluminium top frame as the main support while the bottom casing is usually a slim piece of metal or hard plastic/polycarbonate. I see a design where the bottom will "slide off" and be replaced with different thinkness bases. the attachment will be a zipper-like connection that closes it. Also a lock-latch built into each.

This allows for modular internal components such as mainboard, daughter-boards, disks, Mxm modules, PCIe modules, battery modules etc. With or without additional vent fans. Assuming same size modules that will provide inter-changeable parts connected by ribbon cables such as sata,pcie, thunderbolt etc. While thing zips to the bottom and power up for use.

In such a situation, one can technically unzip a MBP, plug that into a MacMini type enclosure and in a few mins have a decent video editing machine. Same with using a big battery addition to a laptop with built-in cooler-base that will last 8 hours on a powerful motherboard with MXM gpus. Jusrt simple ideas to make modular simple as Lego and not too expensive to build.
