Ruh Roh, made a "lack of proper research" blunder!

Just ordered a 2600k and Asrock Z68 mobo. I also ordered this...

Didn't look closely enough till today and the RAM is 1.65 volt versus 1.5. Is this going to be an issue? If I undervolt the RAM that much I am afraid that stability will suffer (and certainly not allow the RAM to be overclocked).

I have a slight understanding of the reason for the voltage limit on Core iX series CPUs but how much of a problem is it REALLY?

TIA

I think the RAM voltage stuff was an issue with the first Core 17 1366 revisions. Cranking up the voltage damaged the onboard memory controller. I think that issue has been long resolved.

I'm about 100% sure that the ASRock board will let you adjust the RAM voltages. It does on the dinky mATX FM1 socket board I just put together. Actually that's the exact kit I ordered for the Llano build I just completed.

Besides the FSB doesn't overclock that much on the new i7 CPUs. All of the overclocking will done by just adjusting the CPU's multiplier.

Yeah, the 4gig kit was on the compatibility list at Asrock for the mobo. Probably just worrying too much. I HATE waiting for "MR. Brown :( )
