Ok so my bios reads my motherboard temp (idle i guess) at 28C but where is the motherboard temperature sensor located on my baord at least?
Also on speedfan i have 2 readings temp1 (23C) and temp2 (29C) both idle, on any other temperature reading software i have TMPIN0 (temp1) and TMPIN1 (temp2) reading the same temps?

Try some other programs and see what they say.

I have no idea where your board is reading the temps. That said, your reported temps are fine. Why are you worried or are you just curious?

they all say the same as above except my new favourite HWiNFO32. turns out temp1 is my cpu and temp2 is auxiliary. and finally got my SPP/NB temperature of 56.5C idle and 60C load. Is that safe temp?

Oh, a super bit of good news is that, whilst searching the answer i came across a few reasons as to why i have what feels like an OC limit on all my 650i boards of 3562Mhz on my CPU. turns out that on lower end boards the NB voltage is set usually to 1.25v and after trying to find out the stock NB voltage on higher 775 boards (the ones that get massive e8500 OC's) it seems they have from 1.3v - 1.35. that is what allows them to get higher OC's that are of course stable. so my NB is now at 1.3v and i have now got my E8500 overclocked and stable at 3657Mhz and still pushing. Testing on OCCT Power Supply Test ever 5Mhz FSB increment for one hour:)

The northbridge/MCP on nVidia boards are known to run hot as Hell. It's just a fact. That said your temps are fine. The MCP on my nForce4 board ran in the 80s-90s until I put a small fan on it. It still runs hot though.

so my northbridge runs at 56c idle 60c load but i have no southbridge however the heatsink is only lightly warm so no problem there

also my overclock is now at 3705mhz and stable

ok so i have a problem after i posted the last message and no my cpu is not stable at 3705mhz in fact after 2 hours in occt power supply test it was fine then crashed after the last post on here however after 1 hour occt power suplly test finally stable at 3681mhz with vcore at 1.15v and NB at 1.3v. Idle at 30c and load at 48c so happy with that result

That's why overclocking isn't an exact science. It's all about trial and error and luck of the draw. You should see a marked improvement with that gained 600MHz. Seems like the old socket 775 Core processors come alive around 3.6GHz.

finally looks like a got it right for once. trial and error does work even if you risk a lot for it

ok my temps are fine except my NB as it gets to 64c and i can't seem to find the dafe/max temperature any where. any help with it?

It seems like it's somewhere in the range of 110C is the max. Believe me when I say that your temps are fine. If you're worried pick up a cheap 40MM fan and put it over the chipset.

i've tested my northbridge temp with side fan on idle desktop 58c, side fan off idle desktop 70c and side fan off and side window off 67c. this is with a 220mm side fan pushing 74cfm so i guess that temp is safe after all haha thx for your help major or should i say stephen

Well that 220MM fan is going to push more air than a dinky 40MM fan. Some things just run hotter than the rest. We've been engrained/indoctrinated to think that low 30s is good and anything over 50 is bad. That might have been the case in the past but not so much now.

thats true and all is good. even though temps more than 50c in most modern tech is the max temp and that is in battery and all kinds of everyday tech. but pc have been really stressed to see what are the temps they can handle. fews years ago companies wouldn't stress to much as they worried it would damage the equipment and cost them more money then it was worth
