I knew integrated graphics sucked, but never really noticed or thought how much until today.

I have a 6200 in my system, and today in an attempt to try and keep myself from playing too many games what with finals and job hunting going on, I pulled the card from the system only to be greeted with a slightly fuzzy screen on my otherwise sharp as a razor CRT.

I though maybe it was the drivers or something so I updated them and rebooted, nope, that's just how it looked. I figured it wasn't too bad, but after about 10 minutes of surfing, I shut down and pluged my 6200 back in. My eyes just couldn't take it anymore.

Anyone have similar experiences? Is it really the integrated graphics or could it possibly be my monitor? It's just a run of the mill 19" Dell FD Trinitron, and the integrated graphics chip is of the Intel "Extreme" variety, extreme suckage that is.

Yes, my work computer is onboard graphics as well and the screen is always fuzy. In contrast my laptop looks crystal clear, and so does my 915GUX intel motherboard.

This was a common problem with onboard video and large monitors years ago, I didn't know it still occured... but then again, I haven't used onboard video in years.

infinitevalence: Good LCD screens are always going to be crisper, simply because of the tech. I wish I'd been able to afford a high-end LCD instead of the Sony Trinitron I'm using now.

I agree. Yesterday, I received a Dell 2005FPW and within an hour I repackaged the monitor. Reason: My old 17" Professional Series LCD ViewSonic knocks the socks off the quality of the Dell LCD monitor. The pixels were much tighter and the DVD playback was considerably crisper and seemed to be oddly faster. Interestingly, the LCD on my Gateway laptop (x600M video chip) is only slightly less quality than my ViewSonic but the Dell was bad.

having a really bright monitor isn't a good thing.
