Terrible fps and sound lag in BF3

Post by Ruurd »

Hello People,

I hope someone will be able to assist me with my problem, fps lag and sound lag in multi as well as single player battlefield 3.
My fps is rarely over 20 which makes the game unplayable even on the very lowest settings available and the sound often cuts out or only plays some of the sounds (for example explosions further away but not my own fire) or cuts out completely for a number of seconds.

My system is the following:
Motherboard: ASUS P5KC
Processor: intel duo core CPU E8400 @ 3.0Ghz
Memory: 4GB Ram
Video Card: Ati Radeon 5770HD
os: Windows 7 Pro (All updates)

I have tried allot of different things to make it work including but not limited to:
(also note i made a clean instalation of windows 7 on this PC so the only things on it are origin BF3 and skype)

I have tried the most current version of video card drivers, the one before and even the beta.
I have tried different sound card drivers have tried setting the sound to 44k instead of 24bit and tried turning the sound card off completely in the bios.
Have also switched off AA in the bios.
have removed all drivers with a driver cleaner and re-installed.
I must have used all possible combinations of graphics settings from ultimate to low switching on and off all the graphic options this game has to offer. (allot of them lol)
Have tried every resolution from 600x800 to 1920x1080. (this obviously made a difference but still not playable and below 20 fps most of the time ingame)
Have tried all the different settings in catalyst control centre.
Ran the repair option over the game (no problems found)
Removed the recently purchased memory strip to make sure its not faulthy.

And many more that i cant think of atm i have been working on it from 10 this morning!

As you can tell im desperate to get this working, my friend runs with a nearly identical computer set-up and can play with a steady 40 fps+.

thanks for reading this wall of text!

Ruurd

PS: English is not my native language so i apologize in advance for any mistakes as there are bound to be many.

Your machine sounds more than capable. If you're getting 20 FPS at any resolution then something is broken. Try a different benchmark at different resolutions and see if they are all the same.

Try this and see what results you get.

Couple things to try:
Install the the latest Intel chipset drivers. - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... iid=dc_rss
Install the redistributable of DirectX 9. - http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... px?id=8109
Recheck the power connections going into your HD 5770. It almost sounds like it isn't getting power under 3D.
Install the latest BIOS for your motherboard if it isn't already installed. - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_ ... /#download
