New Desktop Computer!

Post by amythompson172 »

Im in the business of looking to purchase a new desktop computer for gaming. I will be playing Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, and maybe Battlefield 3. I want the PC to be near top of the line, being able to run these games at a solid 30fps or more, on medium to ultra graphic settings. Besides that, I also do intense 3d Modeling that really requires a top notch machine considering I move around near 30k polygons on a good work day (or bad work day, considering the computers performance :))

Ive narrowed it down to a few choices, but that certainly dosent mean I wont stray away from them.

This is the MAIN option im really looking for input on.

What is the MAX you want to spend? You should look for the fastest graphic card you can afford. Ex. Nvidia gtx 580 evga. A fast SSD would be something I would want as well. To bad you don't want to build one yourself. If you really need to buy a rig then I would go with something in your price range by digital storm. http://www.digitalstormonline.com/gamingdesktops.asp Let us know what you picked out.

I picked one out for you that cost 2000.00 Here it is. https://www.digitalstormonline.com/cart ... &randomid= here is one for 2339.00 My personal choice for you. http://www.digitalstormonline.com/compl ... ?id=566405 Hope these choices help you out.

Usually the pre built one are a fair bit more expensive than getting everything individually from Newegg or such and you can choose whether you want Sapphire Vapor-X or such
Here's a list for you
i7-3570k/3770k with a Gigabyte Z77 (Avoid D3H, i'm hearing no-POST using it on IVB) motherboard if you want to OC or just a H77/B75 board should do if you don't want to OC (Get a non-K then)
A decent cooler like a Deepcool Neptwin (Really good value)
8x2 sticks of DDR3-1333/1600 RAM i find the Kingston HyperX so cheap it's not worth it buying the ValueRAM CL10 1333MHZ/CL11 1600MHz (5-10$ difference only)
Club3D Joker HD7870/PowerColor HD7870 PCS+ (This one is the Tahiti LE version not the Pitcairn XT)
Or a Sapphire HD7950/70 Vapor-X OC and you can squeeze a massive overclock on AMD GPUs not to forget amazing compute performance compared to Nvidia GPUs ... if you aren't using CUDA programs
You can just buy a HD7950 Vapor-X and OC it by ALOT to 7970 specs but these will definitely do the most highest end games more than 60fps at 2560x1600
If 30fps is all you want a HD7850 OC offers the best value IMO compared to HD7770 which is already killer for fps/$ and you can OC the hell out of the sapphire HD7850 Dual-X (Named OC)
1-2TB WD Black HDD (mainly 5 years warranty if you could be bothered or else blue is great but the black is still faster)
120GB Kingston HyperX 3K <- I like it alot, it's cheap and one of blitheringly fast sandforce drivers out there
HAF 912 case or a Corsair Carbide 300R or you could have a full tower case or even a Bitfenix Shinobi but airflow on that case is not good. Or maybe a Xigmatek Asgard or maybe the new Antec GX700 which comes in cheaper than a HAF912 or even a 300R

And well HD8000 is coming soon ...

Interesting. Actually to be frank unless you're running 1920x1080 cameras you don't need a high spec system.
Probably just a used Q6000/Q9000 from ebay and a used P35/P45 or even G31/G41 since it doesn't matter should do. Fact is i think a C2D/Pentium DC will do the job
And then you just throw in a PCI capture card from DX/DealExtreme/China/Ebay
They're cheap as chips go and should do the job
