Hey guys....

I didn't see a networking forum, so I guess it goes here.

I have a router in my house, but the signal doesn't reach to the other house on the property where my brother lives. I have ran a 100 foot Cat 5 Cable to there. I have a wireless router hooked up at my house, that is connected to the internet. My brother would like to get the internet access from his place.

How do I get the two routers hooked up so his WAP can access the internet. I can get his laptop to connect to the WAP, but I can't get the internet. It seems the WAP at his house can't connect to mine, or if it does it doesn't pass the Internet to his WAP/router.

The same issue with his desktop. I plug the Cat5 into the Router, but I can't get internet through his router.

What do I need to do to get his WAP/Router to get internet access?

Ok, I think I got it. I'll keep you updated and tell you what I did if I get it to work.

Ya Im interested in this too as I wanted to set up something similar to this, but didn't have any luck.

I've done this before using just one router and a switch. If you don't have a switch you can probably make it work if you disable DHCP on the second router and connect the 100 ft cable from the rotuer to port 4 (or whichever is the uplink port for your model).

you'll want the wire to go
Modem>your router>his router
your router will be the gateway and provide NAT/DHCP for your computer, and his router. or you can set them statically
when setting his router computer up it must have the same IP range and subnet yours set as the lan IP
ie say your router sets it's LAN ip as 192.168.0.1 SN 255.255.255.0 and your computer(s) are in the 192.168.0.2-10 range, set his router as 192.168.0.11 sn255.255.255.0
with the gateway set as 192.168.0.1 (your routers lan IP) same for each computer
depending on the brand and model his router might allow the wireless to be set as a station access point. be aware that your cat 5 will not last long outside due to sunlight/moisture/lawnmowers

We put it in pipes and buried it correctly so lasting shouldn't be an issue.
